On August 8, 2014, a man, from Salem Township, pled guilty to one count of first degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of third degree criminal sexual conduct in Wayne County as part of a plea agreement. The plea agreement was a result of a mistrial, and it dropped further counts of CSC. Robert Messer ran away with a young teen in October of 2013 for two days, which resulted in the 15-year-old girl becoming pregnant.

In Michigan, a crime of CSC 1 can result in a potential life sentence, while CSC 3 is punishable by 15 years in prison. Messer will serve 20 – 40 years in prison according to the agreement. His sentencing is set for August 22, 2014.
