There are four degrees of criminal sexual conduct charges in Michigan. Depending on the type of relationship, and the age of the student, a teacher can be charged with CSC 1 or CSC 3, both which involve sexual penetration, or CSC 2 or CSC 4, which involve only sexual contact. In December of 2013, a teacher from Texas was accused of having a sexual relationship with one of his high-school students, who was 16 years old. The teacher and the student were seen, by another student, at an Olive Garden feeding each other and showing affection. While witnessing this, the other student captured a picture and reported the activity to the authorities. A police investigation followed, which uncovered sexual text messages, and photos of the student in lingerie and of the student and teacher kissing. The teacher was ultimately charged for having an improper relationship with a student and indecency charges.
